I’ve known I wanted to do a triathlon for a very long time. I didn’t know where to start and put it to the back of my mind as something maybe I’ll do someday. By pure chance, a friend at the gym wore an ironman top and I asked her about it. She said I needed to join Frank and the Tri Now Team and that I truly couldn’t be in better hands. I thought she might be over-selling it, but she wasn’t.

I signed up for an 8 week program to train for a sprint distance triathlon. I had literally just bought my first bike since I was 10 years old, didn’t know how to shift gears, hadn’t pulled out my goggles in ages and definitely hadn’t run further than 50 feet in years. I had absolutely no idea where to start.

Frank and the members of Tri Now made it simple and walked me through the 8 weeks with patience and kindness. I completed my first sprint triathlon in May. I loved it and immediately signed up to roll this into training for an olympic distance.

This has been like medicine for me. I was in a rut when I decided to take that first step and sign up. The rest just fell into place. I have surprised myself over and over again with achieving little and big goals alike and have made great friends along the way. This has never quite felt like training as much as it felt like meeting up with friends for a fun activity.
This is the friendliest and most supportive group. Frank and Debra are fantastic. To anyone who is on the fence, just sign up… the rest falls into place.

I joined Tri-Now having zero experience with triathlon. Although I was a decent cyclist and runner, I only knew the basics of swimming and hadn’t swam more than a few yards at time in the last 30 years. I joined the Beginner Triathlon program, and with the help of Coach Linda, Coach Frank, and Coach Maddie successfully completed my first sprint triathlon! I loved it so much that I did the beginner program a second time, this time taking on a triathlon with an open water swim.

Since joining, I’ve done multiple sprint triathlons, an Olympic distance, and am now training for a 70.3/half-Ironman distance. I would not have been able to complete these events with confidence had it not been for Tri-Now. The tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way — from how to set up a transition area to general swim technique to sighting buoys — have been invaluable. But more than that, the Tri-Now community is wonderful. It’s so empowering to attend group workouts with everyone from first timers to multiple Ironman finishers. There’s always someone to push you and offer advice.
