Splash_Dash_2017What is a Splash and Dash?

A Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. The run can take place on a trail, a road or a path. Similarly, the swim can take place in any body of water – a pool, a reservoir, or an ocean. USA Triathlon’s Splash & Dash Youth Aquathlon Series will feature a swim/run combination. As an athlete progresses and depending on water conditions, a traditional aquathlon may either feature a swim/run or a run/swim/run combination.

Why Participate?

  • Exposes and educates youth to the multisport lifestyle. It will really help you to “get your feet wet!”
  • Engages youth athletes in pre-race and post-race activities such as vendor areas, clinics, and additional educational opportunities.
  • Creates an opportunity to meet friends and other youth athletes who are interested and also engage in the multisport lifestyle!
  • Less equipment required compared to that of a triathlon since a Splash and Dash (aquathlon) does not require a bike.

Additional details

Race day meeting:  All participants are required to attend a pre-race meeting at 7:45a on race day at the pool area. Event particulars will be discussed and questions will be answered by race organizers. Plan on arriving early to check in and setup your transition area PRIOR to the pre-race meeting.

Transition area: Transition area opens at 7:00a and closes at 7:45a. Bring all your race gear into the transition area, and find the aisle where your number is. Sidewalk chalk will be available for kids to “customize” their space for easy identification during the race. Lay out your gear in your ‘spot’. Drink plenty of fluids, relax, and report to the pre-race meeting at 7:45am in at the pool area.  After the race, check your transition area to make sure that you have collected everything you brought in with you. We highly recommend that you mark all of your gear, especially shoes! You must claim all your gear as you exit on race day. One adult will be allowed in transition with athlete to assist with set up. After transition closes, only race officials, staff, racer and volunteers will be allowed in transition.

All finisher of the KIDS! Summer Splash & Dash will receive a cool race medal! The race will not be chip timed.

All participants will receive a race t-shirt and goody bag at packet pickup.
